Typically, more than half of the property tax dollars the City collects are used to fund the Big Lake Public Safety services, such as police fire and building. Another 30 percent of the tax levy funds are for the maintenance of streets, parks, and snowplowing and other public work functions.
Changes in State Law have eliminated the need for a Truth-in-Taxation Public Hearings, however the Council has schedule a special meeting for formal public comment on the proposed budget and levy for the upcoming year. The special meeting is tentatively scheduled to be held November 24 at 6:00 pm.
