Yard Waste Facility

Beginning in January 2026, there will be a hard reset on all yard waste facility key-cards. Residents of Becker, Big Lake, and Zimmerman will be able to obtain a key-card to access any of the three yard waste facilities. If you already have a key-card, be sure to bring it with you to be reset. You can purchase a second key-card for $10. Note that Elk River's yard waste site will only be open to City of Elk River residents. 

Key-cards to access the yard waste site can be obtained at City Hall (160 Lake St N) during regular office hours. Please bring a photo ID or a utility bill with proof of residency. 

If you live in Becker, Big Lake, or Zimmerman, your key-card will work at any of the yard waste sites listed below:

  • Becker Yard Waste Facility: 12456 153rd Ave SE, Becker, MN 55308
  • Big Lake Yard Waste Facility: 18041 198th Ave, Big Lake, MN 55309
  • Zimmerman Yard Waste Facility: There is no address associated with this site. From Fremont Ave go south on Main Street past the City Park Ball Fields. Look for a posted sign that says "Leaf & Brush Site". Go south past the Park n' Ride lot and continue on the gravel road for about a 1/4 mile to enter the site.

Directions to the Big Lake Yard Waste Facility (18041 198th Avenue, Big Lake, MN 55309):
Follow State Highway 10 east to County Road 43; turn south on County Road 43 to frontage road; turn left on frontage road and follow to the 2nd driveway on right; follow driveway back to the site which is located behind the Public Works Maintenance Facility. The Big Lake Yard Waste Facility is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
