Prescription Drug Drop Box

Time & Location

The Big Lake Police Department is pleased to provide a drop box for you to dispose of your expired, excess, or unused prescription drugs. Our drop box is conveniently located in a secure room off the lobby of the Big Lake Police Department, located at 790 Minnesota Avenue.  It is open to the public for use during business hours. Please take a moment to look in your Rx medicine cabinet and bring in whatever is no longer used. We will not accept syringes, drug paraphernalia, or medications being disposed of by commercial medical facilities.

Purpose

Removing unused prescription drugs from your medicine cabinet ensures they will not fall into the hands of those who should not have them, including children. In addition, proper disposal of unused prescription drugs ensures they will not end up in a landfill or waterway, causing additional harm to our environment.

This program is anonymous and confidential.

The drop boxes are for prescription drugs in pill form, liquids, ointments, or lotions ONLY.

Chemotherapy drugs, needles (sharps), inhalers, and medications being disposed of by commercial medical facilities will NOT be accepted.
